I was teaching fourth grade and coaching volleyball. I was surrounded by my best friends, supportive admin, and incredible students and families. Then, I became a mother and everything changed.

Suddenly, I wanted to be home with my babies more than anything, and I found myself questioning if I was ready to leave teaching. Working from home was never my "plan," but I couldn't spend any more mornings crying in my car before work.

So, I took the leap of faith, packed up my classroom, and headed home.

My name is Ashley, and Once upon a time

Nice to meet you, Friend!

about

Working from home was amazing (albeit pretty wild at times), and I'm so grateful for the opportunity to be the one to lay my littles down for naps and spend mornings at the park. Yet, I deeply missed my co-workers and teaching. Nothing compared to being home with my own children in that season of life, yet I was still asking myself if there was a way for me to get to do more of what made my. heart come alive.

As my kiddos grew, so did my dream of teaching again. But, I wasn't ready to head back to the public school classroom, like I originally thought I would.

A new dream was developing. I wanted to homeschool my kiddos alongside a few friends. I thought I could have a mini-class in my home and imagined us having so much fun!

make it count!

This is your one life.

This mini-class idea grew into a mini-school idea when my kids and I relocated to the country. We now had more space and the vision of opening my own school become a reality.

Once again, this was not the "plan" I was prepared for, but I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt God was inviting us into an adventure, and I jumped in with both feet.

Six months later I opened the doors to Petrichor School, and we have been beyond blessed ever since. God has provided for my kids and I through the school in countless ways, and I can only hope to continue to share the stories with you as the adventure continues to unfold.

I have a feeling this is only the beginning.

Why i decided to OPEN A MICROSCHOOL

  • My first teaching job was in a small town, and the entire K-12 school was smaller than my high school graduating class.
  • I used to not be able to keep a single plant alive, and now I have a school garden filled with food and flowers.
  • I grew up in a family of teachers, and got have both of my parents teach at my schools growing up.
